Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team. As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for managing various financial tasks, including bookkeeping, purchasing, VAT filing, administrative accounting, and payroll. Your role will be crucial in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and smooth financial operations within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording daily transactions, reconciling bank statements, and preparing general ledger entries.
Purchasing: Assist in the procurement process by reviewing purchase orders, verifying invoices, and ensuring timely payment to vendors.
VAT Filing: Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with relevant regulations. Stay updated on changes in VAT laws and ensure accurate recording and reporting of VAT transactions.
Admin Accounting: Provide support in various administrative accounting tasks, such as maintaining expense reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with month-end closing procedures.
Payroll: Assist in processing payroll accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, maintain employee records, and handle any payroll-related queries or issues.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Collaborate with the finance team to analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.
Compliance: Stay informed about relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Ensure adherence to these guidelines and assist with internal and external audits.
Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including accountants, finance managers, and department heads, to gather financial information, resolve queries, and provide support as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CMA) are a plus.
Proven experience in bookkeeping, purchasing, and administrative accounting roles.
Familiarity with VAT regulations and experience in preparing and filing VAT returns.
Strong knowledge of payroll processing and familiarity with relevant tax laws.
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Integrity and high ethical standards in handling financial information.
Experience in the UAE sector
