JOB PURPOSE:
To provide HR advice and support the Group and Line managers to meet HR needs and objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
The Head of HR leads and directs the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and execute HR strategies, policies, and programs that support the company’s mission and strategic objectives.
· Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the HR team, ensuring effective implementation of HR initiatives.
· Oversee recruitment and staffing processes, including workforce planning, job postings, interviewing, and selection of qualified candidates.
· Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs, ensure appropriate staffing levels, and facilitate succession planning.
· Manage employee relations, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive work environment.
· Implement and manage performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development plans.
· Oversee training and development programs to enhance employees’ skills and promote career growth within the company.
· Lead compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive packages and compliance with applicable regulations.
· Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and keep up to date with industry trends and changes.
· Develop and maintain effective communication channels to facilitate transparent and timely information flow across the organization.
· Provide guidance and support in disciplinary actions, terminations, and legal matters related to HR.
· Manage employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive company culture.
· Lead initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in collaboration with leadership and relevant stakeholders.
· Generate and implement resourceful means to source candidates directly as far as possible, thus ensuring better control over costs and quality. Aim towards minimum lead time in the process from vacancy identification to actual recruitment.
· Implement and manage a plan for new employee induction and orientation at all levels and subsequent follow-up on the progress of new recruits in their jobs through the induction and probation period.
· Facilitate the performance management process at the line level, drive the appraisal process for its successful completion each year and, review and report outcomes to senior management for further analysis and decisions in training, reward and performance management.
· Handle staff grievances and disciplinary issues and provide appropriate guidelines to line managers for efficient and satisfactory resolution of the same in line with HR policies and procedures.
· Implement HR policies and procedures and advise line managers on procedures, precedents, and policy interpretation to ensure its fair and equitable application.
· Maintain suitable documentation and updated information on all HR initiatives and activities.
