Commis Chef
Overview
We are looking for a talented, forward-thinking General qualification chef with at least three years of high quality kitchen experience, to join our team. We are looking for someone who thrives working in a team, with a passion for cooking and understanding of our values and vision. The ideal person will be focused on delivering the best experience possible for our guests and is eager to learn and challenge themselves. You’ll be helping to run a section, working with other members of the team and ensuring the very best use of the produce and preservation techniques that we use. You need to be creative and have attention to detail.
The Role and Responsibilities
· Produce high-quality hot and cold dishes according to recipes developed by the Head Chef
· Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
· Able to produce quality product in a timely and efficient manner for the guests or staff.
· Responsible to maintain cleanliness, sanitation at the assigned work area
· Responsible for preparing and cooking all food items by the recipe and to specification.
· Have general knowledge of cooking temperatures, making soups & sauces, preparing entrees;
· Communicate any assistance needed and report any incidents to the Sous Chef to ensure optimum service to guests
· Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
· Store food products in compliance with safety practices;
· Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
· Maintaining proper cooking techniques for station items as designated by Chef;
· Inspect cooking equipment, supplies, work areas and ingredients to ensure constant conformance to regulatory standards;
· Help to ensure the smooth-running of your section, working closely with the team to execute;
· Have a high standard of food preparation, attention to detail, portion control and minimal wastage;
· Assist senior chefs where required in recipe and dish development;
· Deliver an exceptional experience for our guests from the kitchen and in the dining room;
· Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs;
Requirements
· A minimum of three years of similar experience is required.
· A Culinary degree is preferred
· Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
· Complies with all HACCP policies and procedures
· Knowledge of best cooking practices
