We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various aspects of accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Consolidation, Accounts Receivable, and month-end closing procedures. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our start-up company.
Job Responsibilities
· Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
· Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards.
· Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as necessary.
· Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
· Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
· Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to address payment inquiries.
· Assist in the consolidation of financial data from multiple entities or departments.
· Collaborate with other teams to gather necessary financial information for consolidation purposes.
· Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and collections.
· Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue payments.
· Work closely with sales and operations teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
· Perform month-end closing activities in a timely and accurate manner.
· Prepare financial statements and reports for review by management.
· Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
· Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and filing requirements.
· Prepare and file corporate tax returns accurately and in a timely manner.
· Assist in tax planning and optimization strategies.
What skills should you showcase (Skills/Competencies)
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in the petroleum or energy sector.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
· Proficiency in accounting software Oracle NetSuite and MS Excel.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· CPA/ACCA. ACA certification or progress towards any recognized accounting qualification.
· Experience with Oracle NetSuite ERP system
· Knowledge of petroleum industry and start up environment
